Moosewood Restaurant's Orange Ginger Tea

This is a special recipe that I cannot recommend highly enough on those days when you just can't seem to warm up, when you have the sniffles or are feeling particularly sorry for yourself and want some mothering...it can also be served cold and is probably delicious on a hot, Summer day or with spicy foods, but I reserve it for those sickly days when I want to spoil myself. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 rounded Tbsp. of grated peeled ginger root
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1-2 Tbsp. honey

In a small saucepan bring the grated ginger and water almost to a boil. 

Cover and allow to steep for 5-minutes.

With a fine mesh strainer, strain the liquid, being careful to push the liquid out of the ginger with the back of a spoon.

Add remaining ingredients and reheat for a hot beverage, or chill for a cool & refreshing beverage.
